Here is Ron Gabel's answer to question number 12940

hello need a little info,,if you can. I just got a double barrel, I think 10 gauge only markings on it is johnston looks like a family crest in bedded in the stock real nice checkering on it. No seril numbers. Have any Idea of what I got or how old? Thank you for any info jim

Answer:

I suspect your gun may have a connection to J.H. Johnston and the Great Western Gun Works in Pittsburgh PA. The company was in business from 1866 to 1915. .
