Here is Ron Gabel's answer to question number 5563

Question:

Ruger new model single six with (made in the 200th year of american liberty)on top of the barrel. Is this common?

Answer:

Ruger made a number of "Special Issue" revolvers. One very interesting 1 of 100 Ruger Collectors Assn gun, number 1559, was not assembled until 1976, and when finally assembled, a barrel with the "Made in the 200th year of American Liberty" inscription was fitted. In 1977, the RCA acquired the last 200 guns to leave the Ruger factory wearing the "Liberty" inscription. As contemporary guns go, yours should be very collectable.
