Here is Ron Gabel's answer to question number 5590

Question:

I have 3 guns that I would like to know the age of. 1. Leopold GASSER Wien (Serial # 02459 2380), side/side with hammers. 2. A HOLLIS, percussion sidelock, muzzle loading, damascas barrels 13 gauge Serial No. BM0035 and 3. a Charles HELLIS, double barrel shotgun Serial No. 1696(not very gun savvy). Could you give me a date of manufacture or an approximation? Thank you Anita

Answer:

Alfred Hollis was an English gun maker 1895 to 1900; Charles Hellis was an English gun maker 1894 to 1901 and Leopold Gasser was an Austrian gun maker circa 1836 to 1871.
