I was given an old double barrell shotgun-pre-1900. The only identification I see is the following: W Moo RE & C',, And the number 2173 on the inside. Any advice? Thanks. Lisa

Answer:

William Moore & Co. were English gunmakers from 1854 to 1872. Unfortunately the same name was used as a trade name on Henri Pieper Belgium made shotguns. If the gun was Belgium made it should display the E over LG Belgium barrel proof.
