Mr. Gabel's expertise is in pre-1898 antique firearms. He is a past president of The Kentucky Rifle Association, past president of The Kentucky Rifle Association Foundation, a past president of The American Society of Arms Collectors, secretary/treasurer of The Pennsylvania Antique Gun Collectors Association and a past director of The Forks of the Delaware Weapons Association.

Ron has been actively collecting since 1954. He is a consulting expert for Man-at-Arms magazine, past president of The Jacobsburg Historical Society and has been the editor of The Kentucky Rifle Association Bulletin since 1974. Ron is also the editor of the Pennsylvania Antique Gun Collectors "Bugle" magazine. Ron has been a judge of the Anuual Gunmakers Fair in Kempton, PA since 1983.

Ron is listed as an authority on antique guns in Who's Who in the East, Who's Who in America, Who's Who in the World, and Who's Who in Finance and Industry.

He is an active member of The Nebraska Museum of the Fur Trade, The Lehigh County Historical Society, The Colorado Antique Arms Collectors, and The Texas Gun Collectors Association.
